Husband and wife team , Stan & Mary Durst, grew up in very different environments. He’s the city boy from Brooklyn, she’s the farm girl from Michigan. Their unique perspectives and talents combine to form a powerful team. Stan & Mary met at Michigan State University. Stan graduated with a Master’s degree in Physics & Math and Mary studied English literature, Philosophy and Psychology. After graduation from Michigan State, they married and moved to Southern California for Stan’s first job at Lockheed Aerospace. Because of his security clearance, Stan spent long days working on projects in a closed room and soon decided that he was more of a “people person” so switched his profession to sales in technical equipment and moved to San Jose, Ca. It was here that Stan & Mary both got interested in real estate sales and obtained their licenses. By now having a son, Bryan, it worked out well for them to begin a new career in property management and sales with Lincoln Property Co. They traveled to on site locations to open and rent up apartments or sell condominiums, even living in El Paso Texas for several years.

Upon returning to California, Stan and Mary began their career in residential real estate sales at Red Carpet Realtors in Hayward, Ca. in the late 70’s. After several years, they moved to the progressive “Property Professionals” in Fremont,Ca where they owned shares in the company and held the position of Sales Manager. An opportunity arose in 1991 for the Dursts to purchase a real estate office and they Brokered “Professional Realty” in Fremont where they thrived for 14 years. As the real estate market began it’s shift in 2005, the Dursts recognized the benefits to clients of working with a National company and joined the Remax Franchise. “Remax keeps us above of the crowd with their marketing influence and technological advances. We have a lot more services to offer to our clients” says Stan. The Durst’s hobbies have long included alternative health and motivational seminars. In fact, you could refer to them as “learning junkies”. They have studied with most of the big names in the seminar world and feel that the experiences have added to their foundational understanding of human nature which is essential to serving people. The Dursts are licensed practicioners of a communication and negotiation strategy called “Neurolinguistic Programming”. Stan and Mary continue to study and practice methods of staying healthy which include regular exercise, a healthy diet & meditation. Their idea of a healthy diet changes with study and experience. They have been to extremes of following a vegan diet for 10 years and now have a more balanced approach with organic produce, fresh juices, raw butter, coconut oil and grass fed meat. Stan has been a body builder most of his life even competing in and winning the “Mr. Fremont over 40” contest some years back. Whatever they are doing, it’s working as they both are fortunate to maintain excellent health. Stan & Mary are doting grandparents to Cole ( 14) and Trevor (11). On any Tuesday afternoon, you will not find them selling real estate but rather picking up Cole & Trevor from school in San Jose as they have done since the kids started school. We have the most fun playing with the kids, helping them with projects and taking them to their sports games says Stan. Another interest the Dursts have is traveling the world. They love cruising to areas with more sites than they can see in a lifetime. A favorite trip was their journey to Italy in 2008. They spent time in Rome & Florence in addition to a 10 day cruise of other cities in Italy, France and Spain. Stan & Mary also love rejeuvenating at their condo in Kauai. Stan has taken up stand up surfing on the river that feeds into Hanalei Bay and Mary enjoys reading a good book on the beach. Of late, the Dursts have become Certified Distressed Property Experts since so much of the market involves couseling sellers who are in short sale or foreclosure positions and there are so many investors who want to buy foreclosed properties. The Dursts have teamed with a professional bidder at the county court house to satisfy the needs of their clients who want to be cash investors in foreclosed properties.
